On Pink Day at the college, the club put together an informational table that included self-exam guides, an informative video and plastic breast models. selection processTo increase traffic, the table doubled as the site for a bake sale and two raffles. Each month, the club put together a display in a heavily-used campus building to focus the attention of passers-by on a certain disease or medical issue. Topics included Alzheimers disease, diabetes, sugar in the diet, obesity, heart disease, autism, healthy sleep habits, skin cancer and breast cancer. The BSC Health Fair featured two booths from the BioMedical Club, one about Alzheimers and another about diabetes and sugar. Awareness ribbons were handed out at a separate Alzheimers symposium on campus. Wesley Jones of Gap Mills in Monroe County said that getting a new display up every month can be a hassle. He said, Last year, our president struggled to make time, because she was trying to get to dentistry school, and she was running this club. But thats the good thing about us. Even if it does get tough and gets stressful, any of us that have free time can step in, he said.
